What to Expect from your Massage Therapist:
You should arrive approximately 10 minutes early for your first treatment in order to fill out your health history. It is important to fill this out to the best of your ability so that your therapist can ensure you have a safe and effective treatment. An assessment may be performed, and while it is optional, it allows the therapist to develop a more effective treatment plan for you. By assessing the problematic areas, we can better know the source of the issue and treat it more quickly and effectively.
The nature of the treatment will be as you indicate to the therapist at the beginning of treatment. Areas of treatment will be outlined for you based on your needs, and any area you are not comfortable being worked on will not be treated.
The specific area being worked on will be the only area undraped at that time. Massage is most effective directly on skin, but only remove the clothing that you are comfortable with; your therapist can work around anything you decide to keep on.
As the client, you have the ability to stop or ask for the treatment to be modified at any time without question. As the therapist, we will be checking in with you periodically throughout the treatment to ensure comfort, pressure, techniques are okay.
A possible side effect of treatment is ‘kickback’ or residual pain (feels similar to after a work out), which can be counteracted with a warm epsom salt bath or stretches given by the therapist.
Any information given or said to your massage therapist is 100% confidential. Please note the only exception to this is when there is risk to yourself or others.
It is important to ask your therapist about any questions you have! This can be before, during, or after your treatment.
